One of my last assignments for my former employer took me to Paris to "La Tour d'Argent", where, as a normal mortal, you just can't get in... After the starter I had to vanish, but not without having a drink to the end of the day... And that was it: a revelation! I didn't know the price or anything else about this wine, but I thought to myself that if I only got one glass, it must be something special.
Label photographed, researched, -and bam! Chablis Grand Cru, from one of the most renowned chateaus of Burgundy, namely the Domaine Francois Raveneau with Le Clos. A bottle costs around 370 euros. Yeah, I have to mention it anyway. I think that's when my passion for French wines was awakened. I wanted to learn everything about grape varieties, growing regions, vintages and above all, which wines I really like!
