Montirius Terre des Aînés A.O.C. Gigondas
When the light outside changes, takes on a light golden glow, and a cool morning heralds autumn, you can once again let the passing summer blossom in your mind and in your glass and remember what it was like when gorse bushes didn't even rustle in the shimmering heat, the heat pressed you to the ground and your flip-flops melted on the asphalt.
What goes better with shimmering heat and France than Grenache? Grenache and Mourvédre, vinified biodynamically, from Domaine Montirius at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail. A wonderful wine, almost light-footed one might think at first smell. The taste is dense and complex, liquid gold on the tongue. Perfectly balanced in fruit and tannins. Dark berries and a fine spicy note linger for a long time.
I remember a vintner saying that you only get to know a wine when you have drunk the whole bottle. That's what I intend to do - and no one will stop me.
